Stella Futura has signed an agreement with Härjeåns for the supply, installation and operation of a battery system with a capacity of 15 MW. The battery system that is integrated into Härjeån's electricity grid is supposed to be placed in close proximity to the cogeneration plant in Sveg.
The battery system, based on european technology, is expected to be installed and ready for operation in the spring of 2024.
-Now the development is really gaining momentum. Up until now, Stella Futura has integrated battery systems into the power grid at over 50 locations across Sweden, all of which have been aggregated into Svenska Kraftnät's (The Swedish Power Grid) market for support services. The integration in Härjeåns is the second in a series of multiple systems over 10 MW. For us, it is natural that resources that can help the national power grid also contribute to local benefit, says Ulrika Tornerefelt, founder and CEO of Stella Futura AB.
The battery system will be connected to Svenska Kraftnät's support services to maintain balance in the swedish power system. It will therefore generate local revenue while meeting increased demand for electricity. More battery solutions in our energy system contribute to balancing imbalances and reducing peak loads, thereby contributing to a more stable electricity market.
- We welcome innovative solutions like these, where good business is combined with social benefits. With a battery system in place, we become part of the solution in the ongoing transition towards a more electrified society. The Swedish energy system needs solutions like this to be able to handle both increasing power demands and the growing share of electricity from intermittent production, such as solar and wind power, says Cecilia Norberg, CEO of Härjeåns Kraft AB.
The installation is a Battery as a Service (BaaS) solution, which means that Härjeåns provides a part of a property to Stella Futura for the integration of the battery system. The financing of the battery system is provided by Profura, which intends to invest in and enable increased national societal benefit. With this solution, Härjeåns has the opportunity to develop revenue streams outside its core business with low risk.
- It is inspiring to be part of the deal together with Stella and Härjeåns. The project creates great local benefits by building and securing critical swedish infrastructure in energy supply. When we entered the project, it was crucial to be able to procure high-quality european technology from Stella Futura. The project is completely in line with our focus on generating returns and developing the conditions for swedish industry to grow, says Daniel Månsson, CEO of Profura Utveckling AB.
