Thanks to the solar infrastructure that Stella Futura is rolling out with a unique financing model, important charging infrastructure is being created for Cake's electric motorcycles, which can transport refrigerated vaccines and health workers fossil-free into rural Ghana and its health centers.
-It's fantastic to see our project to build a green infrastructure for safe and sustainable healthcare in Africa (starting in Ghana) being recognized. It's been a great teamwork where Cake has provided electric motorcycles with cooling boxes and Stella Futura has been responsible for installing solar energy systems at the hospitals that have enabled the infrastructure for charging the motorcycles, says Ulrika Tornerefelt, CEO and founder of Stella Futura.
– It feels really great to receive this award. Especially because it's an important project that does good and our technology and innovations can contribute to improving healthcare in Africa, says Dominique Dutronc, General Manager Europe at Cake.
Women on the roofs
An important part of the project is that it has been carried out with 30% female developers, engineers, and installers participating in Stella Futura's initiative "Women on the Roofs". An initiative where Stella Futura trains women to become self-employed solar installers.
Other companies and organizations that have worked on the project and made it possible are; Shell Foundation Grants, administered by Odyssey Energy Solutions. Clean Captive Installations for Industrial Clients in Sub-Saharan Africa Grants, funded by UN Environment Programme, administered by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance. Powertrust D-RECs initiative and USAID Power Africa project support. The Education and Inclusion Award
The VivaTech Education and Inclusion Award aims to highlight entrepreneurs who, through innovation and new technology, address human needs and societal challenges. And also to emphasize that technology can improve inclusion and diversity issues in business.
