The battery systems from Stella Futura origins from European market-leading suppliers and is now aggregated towards the Swedish transmission system operator (TSO) Svenska kraftnät's support service market to contribute to stabilizing the electricity grid.
- We see investment battery storage as a contribution to both the energy transition and to our profitability. Smart batteries enable even more renewable energy in the power grid, which is needed to fight the climate crisis, says Stefan Hansson, CEO of Ra Energy.
The battery is connected to CheckWatt's virtual power plant Currently and is provided with smart control that ensures it will always be used in the most profitable or highest priority way.
- Stella Futura works with so-called Service Stacking for our clients, which means that we ensure that our systems are dimensioned to deliver the most optimal service at any given time. At certain times, the battery is ready to provide support services, while at other times it performs, for example, power capping. The battery is a multifaceted solution, and it's about creating long-term sustainability in your investment based on the service that provides the most value. In this particular case, the battery is entirely focused on delivering support services. In addition to the technical solution, Stella Futura also offers Battery-as-a-Service to our clients, says Ulrika Tornerefelt, CEO and founder of Stella Futura.
The Swedish transmission system operator (TSO) Svenska kraftnät has the ultimate responsibility for the stability of the power grid and purchases so-called support services on a common marketplace. These support services help maintain the correct frequency and balance in the power grid. When the production of electricity is greater or less than the consumption, the power grid becomes imbalanced, which can in the worst case lead to power outages. Batteries are well suited to stabilize the power grid during the most urgent and unexpected power production failures.
- Batteries with smart control are a way to bypass capacity constraints and bottlenecks in the power grid. It reduces the need for expensive network reinforcements while making the investment for Ra Energy more profitable, says Dan-Eric Archer, CEO of CheckWatt.
CheckWatt's virtual power plant Currently connects many batteries from companies and private individuals across Sweden. Currently can quickly provide power in case of sudden power outages in the power grid, such as rapid shutdowns in a nuclear power plant.
